Perhaps you have heard of the Knights over the years and wondered what it was all about.
Our Council currently has a wide variety of activities for a new member and his family to
participate in.
Program Director
The Program Director is Larrie Garcia
He oversees all the council programs and committees with a lot of help from the program directors and committee chairman.
Admissions
The Admissions Director is Hersel Gunn
They oversee all membership programs, direct recruitment activities and also oversee activities dealing with retention of the knights in our council.
But recruiting new members is really everyone's job and each Knight should be alert and watchful for good Christian men with a desire to serve others.
Faith Activities
Our Faith Programs Directors are Al Florez and Aro Gopu
Our goal is to strengthen our men and their families in the faith. When we entered the Order, we were reminded to constantly form
ourselves in the Catholic faith. This formation goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a
loving God and his son Jesus Christ. Programs in this category are designed to draw us closer to God and the Church in a tangible
and meaningful way. These programs arm us for the spiritual battle that our men and families face daily.
Some of the activities they are involved in are the St. Thomas Ministry, Bread/Dessert Table, Food for Families and Survivor Assistance.
They also oversee activities such as RSVP (supporting seminarians), Into The Breach, Spiritual Reflection, Holy Hour, Parish Rosary events
the sale of "Keep Christ in Christmas" greeting cards, the Council Memorial Mass for deceased Knights,
Altar Server recognition and assists in the Divine Mercy Sunday celebration. Many Knights and their wives are also Mass Captains,
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Lectors, Altar Servers and Choir members.
Family Activities
The Family Activities Director is John Bender
The programs in this category are developed for families by families. Blessed Michael McGivney sought to strengthen the familial bond of
father to mother and children to parents. Catholics often struggle with the reality that they do not have the opportunity to socialize
and/or pray with other faith-filled Catholic families. It can be a challenge to continue to ground ourselves and raise our children in the faith.
Community Activities
The Community Activities Director is Joel Walker
As Knights of Columbus, we are called to serve our family and our God. Our first principle is Charity, at home with our families and in our communities. This is a critical
part of our Knights of Columbus mission. Have you ever wondered, “How can I make my community better?” Individuals can do great things on their own but there is something bigger
than self when Knights of Columbus members come together as one through their council and accomplish great things. Councils that conduct these programs are positively shaping
their communities by addressing the needs of its citizens.
They oversee Coats for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, Helping Hands, Free Throw Championship, Soccer Challenge and other community events.
Life Activities
The Life Director is John Virag
The urgency of the threat to a culture of life cannot be misunderstood. Respect for the dignity of life demands a commitment to human rights across a broad spectrum. Both as
Knights of Columbus and as followers of Christ, “Catholics must be committed to the defense of life in all its stages and in every condition”
The Knights of Columbus defends the dignity of each human being at every stage of life. Knights work together to build a culture of life and a civilization of love. Your council
should stand ready to assist any pregnant woman in need, care for the elderly, aid the handicapped, empower those with special needs to realize their full potential, and bring
attention to the injustices of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia and assisted suicide.
This includes March For Life, Pregnancy Center Support, Special Olympics, Ultrasound Initiative and our councils pro-life programs. We offer whatever assistance is needed in the fight
against abortion.
