A check was presented to the Henry County Schools


Repairs to St Joseph Catholic Church, Naga City, Philippines

St Joseph Catholic Church, Naga City, Philippines is a very small church that is located in an older section of Naga City. A majority of the parishioners are elderly and/or "embracing the heck" out of the poverty line. This church is in the hometown of where Hersel Gunn's wife grew up. When she visited her hometown a couple of years ago and attended services, she noticed the urgent need for repairs and adding some source of security.

Hersel brought this to the attention of our Knights and solicited financial assistance. He was only asking for a one time donation. It was ultimately approved for Saint Joseph to receive $1000 per year for three years.

Since then, Hersel has been receiving pictures of services, pictures of some of the congregation and many thank you emails.

Scholarships to the Needy Children in India

With the help of brother knights we were able to provide scholarships to 10 needy children in India. This will help them go to school, help support their families and hopefully they will be able to give back to their community in the future. Some of these children have lost their mother or father or could not afford to go to school.

"St. Thomas Food For The Poor" Sewing Machine Project

With the help from the Knights of Columbus Council 7601 and our church parishioners we were able to donate 15 sewing machines to the needy families in India in December 2023. We have hired an instructor for 3 months, who has been teaching them sewing machines skills. The goal is after 3 months training, they can take this life long skill, find employment and feed their families. Here is a video of sewing machines training that is under progress. Please take a look.

If you are interested in donating, please write a check to the "Knights of Columbus" and write in the memo "St Thomas Food For The Poor". Then deposit it in the Knights mailbox at church. Thanks.

"St. Thomas Food For The Poor" Sewing Machine Project

15 Sewing machines were donated to the needy families in India today. 3 months training will be given. Training starts December 26th. Thank you for all the Knights of Columbus brothers and everyone else that made this possible.

Wheelchair Ramp Consruction

Here are some pictures of some our Knights building a wheelchair ramp. Our Council voted to fund and build a wheelchair ramp for a disabled women. She was unable to leave her home without a walker or a wheelchair. "Thank You" to the volunteers who came and completed this project.

Bread Ministries

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Knights, the "Bread Ministry" has been going on for many years. Bread from local stores is offered to members of our parish and to families in need. Donations made through this ministry are used to help families in our community and to fund other initiatives that impact dozens of families every year. Approximately $10,000 is raised annually from this Ministry.

Thank you to Brother Aro Gopu and Brother Al Flores for keeping this Ministry going for many years.


St. Thomas Food for the Poor

We donated 2500 pounds of rice, 100 pounds of lentils, 100 pounds of wheat flour, 100 pounds of onions, 100 gallons of cooking oil, 100 pounds of ground nuts and 100 packets of salt. This was donated for 50 families and they can use for 3 to 4 weeks for a family of 3 or 4. Click on the picture above for more pictures.
